Please call or email us for appointments if you’re visiting for the first time, or, if you have a need for a specific machine or process.
JC Fab Lab has an array of traditional tools and machines as well as contemporary computer-controlled machines. The general facility includes:
- Flexible event & workshop bench space
- Woodshop (with Jet Band Saw, Delta Table Saw, Delta Scroll Saw, Jet belt and disc sander, Jointer, tabletop drill press + many handheld tools and machines)
- Clean Shop, for laser cutting/engraving, 3D printing, Vinyl cutting, and electronics benches.
- WIFI
- Lounge/common meeting area
- A basic kitchen facility
- 110V, 220V electrical
- Loading dock and freight elevator
Our facility includes the following special machines that require their own safety and instructional training:
- Epilog Fusion 40 Laser Cutter / Engraver
- general rate: $85/hr (supervised)
- semi-supervised rate: $75/hr
- WASP 2040 3D printer
- general rate: $25/day (plus material)
- WASP Clay 3D printer
- general rate: $25/day (plus material)
- Creality Halot Resin 3D printer
- general rate: $15/day (plus material)
- Makerbot X2 Clone 3D printer (dual extruder)
- general rate: $15/day (plus material)
- Puma III Vinyl cutter
- general rate: $15/hour
Before you can use these machines/processes you must:
- Take the machine/process-specific Basic Safety and Operation workshop
- Book and use the machine for 2 to 3 Supervised Sessions
- Become authorized to use the machine semi-supervised by JC Fab Lab staff

We’re in Jersey City at the Mana Contemporary campus… Convenient to public, motorized, and bicycle transportation. 20 minutes to downtown or midtown Manhattan… a bit more to Brooklyn.
Taking Public Transport… (bravo!)
We’re close to Journal Square, so…
- JSQ PATH goes from Christopher St and then goes up 6th Ave. in Manhattan, and goes out to Harrison and Newark, NJ.
- 119 NJ Transit Bus travels to/from Port Authority
- 87 bus goes to/from Hoboken and the Hoboken PATH station
- NJ Transit trains These go everywhere in NJ, and can connect you as far as Fairbanks, Alaska… possibly further.
From downtown Jersey City, take the PATH from Grove St.
Pro Tip…
We highly recommend the iOS/Android app Transit — provides real-time GPS tracked public transport — totally works. There’s an NJ Transit app as well… you can search for that, but, no guarantees there.
By motor vehicle… we’re 12 minutes from the Holland or Lincoln Tunnel. 30 minutes from the GW Bridge. 5 minutes from Downtown Jersey City.
Mana Contemporary… have you been? Check the Mana Contemporary website for events and daily tours of the studios here. There are music performances, and Open Studios 4 times a year… that’s always filled with art, music, and activities for kids. For events, they typically have a shuttle bus from Milk Studios at 450 W 15th St. in Chelsea.
The Lab has a very strict safety policy. With the exception of OpenShop, Events, MeetUps, and Workshops… anyone entering the Lab must:
- be a dues-paid member in good standing
- have an appointment with a staff-person at the JC Fab Lab or Towhee co.
- be at least 18 years old, or be accompanied by an adult guardian at all times. (no drop-offs)
NOTE: members *must not* bring guests into the Lab work areas without a prior arrangement with JC Fab Lab staff. Please contact us at info@jcfablab.com to discuss guest authorization. No exceptions, sorry.
