Join us at the JC Fab Lab for a workshop session on Laser cutter / engraver basics and safety. This session will give you everything you need to know to get from design to creating it on the laser cutter. Once you take this class, you will be able to access the Laser Cutter / Engraver on your own at our standard rates ($85/hr or as low as $60/hr*)… Now this being the Valentine Edition, we’ll have a few sample files so you can create items that would make a wonderful gift for a person you love dearly. (I suppose that could mean your sweetheart, or yourself 🙂

Bring a USB jump drive and laptop with Corel Draw, Adobe Illustrator or Inkscape (free to download here: http://inkscape.org/en/download/) if you have these available. NOTE: We highly encourage you to download a trial version of Corel Draw so you can get familiar with this software.
Every participant will get a chance to use the laser, and you will be qualified to use the laser cutter on your own at the JC Fab Lab. (First in supervised sessions, then Lab Tech monitored only once you really prove that you’re qualified to do so).
Workshop fee includes a nominal materials fee, or there is an option to bring your own material. Please be certain that the material is ok for use on the laser (no chlorine content 🙂
You must be 18 years or older or have a guardian attend with you.

Anyone accessing the Laser must: (1) First, complete the Laser Cutter / Engraver Basics workshop. (2) Sign up for 1 or 2 Supervised sessions. (3) Once you have proven to be responsible and knowledgable enough, you will be certified to use the machine at the ‘unsupervised’ rate [a qualified lab tech must be present when anyone is using the Laser].
