Looking to become a member of JC Fab Lab? Excellent! What does membership mean? Ok, here’s the skinny:
Access
Membership allows access to general bench space, laser cutting (at deep discount), the wood shop, metal / jewelry work area, 3D printing (plastics, urethane, and ceramic/clay), electronics bench, and textiles/sewing. There’s public WIFI and copious space at the cafe and common areas at Mana Contemporary. Standard membership gives you two (2) dedicated 4hr time blocks per week. Additional time and access is available anytime the lab is open as well, space permitting. 24/7 access? Yes that’s available for MemberPlus. Have an organization or business that needs a Group or Family Membership? Those are available as well. Please inquire.
Workshops & Events
Group / Corporate / Family members get access to one-on-one and personalized instruction for reduced fees. We can run workshops designed for your specific projects and ventures. We can also do seminars and workshops at your location, team building series, and special events. All JC Fab Lab Members get preferred seats for workshops and discounts on workshops, materials, and more.
Storage
Members can keep small projects at the Lab. You can’t keep your 1:4 scale model replica of the Spruce Goose here, but, you’ll have a shelf where you can keep a few things, your prototypes in progress, your respirator, a small electronics project, your jigs, and some material samples. There’s room in the common storage racks for large materials for your projects in progress. You’ll have room for gluing up wood shop projects and so forth.
A Lift
Members can use the freight elevator.
What are the extra costs?
Membership+Plus
You’re seriously ambitious. You’re a designer, artist, product developer or entrepreneur who is going all in on your side hustle and needing proper studio space. This is your ticket — 24/7 access, dedicated bench space and storage space. Perhaps you need your own tool wall or shelf space for your printer farm, yttrium laser, and desktop water jet cutter. Fill out the membership form and tell us your needs. There’s only one slot open for this so, make your case and let’s see if we can make this happen for you.
Extensive Storage (Large Projects)
Storage space at the Lab is generous but finite and well designed for getting sizable projects done. However, storage space (like space in most places in Jersey City) are a limited resource, and cost extra. If your project fits in your apartment or through the door to your house you probably won’t need to pay extra for storage. We can accommodate most projects of reasonable scale.
Machines and Materials
We have a few sophisticated machines that carry hourly fees… current list here, Materials are moderately priced. Scrap material (free and cheap) are readily available.
Parking
You can use the enormous loading dock and freight elevator to load in materials for use on projects at the Lab. Once you load in materials, there is a parking lot suitable for a local airport — parking is never an issue.

Application
First…fill out the membership application form to the right.
Wait Patiently
We’ll contact you, usually within 48 hours, to schedule you for an interview session to become a trial member.
Safety Class
Once your application is reviewed, you need to take a safety class.
You need to pass the safety class test. This is not just a piece of paper, this is a written test and a thorough evaluation of your common sense and ability to work safely — for your own sake, and for the sake of others. This makes sense, yes? If you need to do this in Spanish or another language, let us know. We’ll sort that out.
Working with JC Fab Lab is awesome. You can learn new things, use awesome tools that you don’t have at home, and see your projects go from concept to completion.
