Summer camp 2017 sign-up is now officially under way at JC Fab Lab. We’re taking our tried and true projects and top-notch instructors together for another awesome Summer Camp. Camp sessions run 1 or 2 weeks per session. Pick and choose based on your child’s interests, or sign up for a month of fun.

Come join us on a free-choice attendance basis. Purchase a single day, a 3-pack, or a 10-pack of sessions to get the best experience for your camper. Campers can choose their own projects and use the:
- Laser cutter/engraver — awesome for making synthesizer cases, or engraving a laptop
- Vinyl cutter– make some awesome wall decorations, stickers, or temp tattoos
- Electronics workbench — create your very own pocket drum synth in your own customized case

**note that day passes include base level material fees. If your camper ends up creating a drone, working with electronics, etc., additional materials fees will be charged.
Camp Grants!
If this is all sounding great, but not possible due to costs, we offer Camp Grants — up to 50% off the cost of weekly or day-passes. Please contact us at info@jcfablab.com for details.
Camp sessions run from June 26-July 14, and August 28-31 . Our camps are for kids ages 7-16 — kids will be grouped appropriately for each camp session to optimize the fun and learning for everyone. Please contact us with any questions about whether our camps are right for your kids.
Camp days consist of both indoor and outdoor activities in the course of having fun making, designing, and building things. The camp day runs from 9AM to 3:30PM. Before and after-care is available daily, starting at 8:30AM, and ending at 6:00PM.
There is a half-day option for older campers (generally 12 and up) who specifically want to take drawing only. (Ages 12 and up). This is great for kids who love to draw and also those who are a bit more serious about honing their skills, and learning specific techniques like shading, perspective drawing, and figure drawing.
We expect these sessions to fill up quickly, so please register soon! A small deposit will hold a spot for your camper.
1st Session | June 26-July 7

Animation Camp
June 26-July 7 (Full day 9AM-3:00PM)
We’ve put together an exceptional opportunity for kids to create animation using an awesome combination of traditional stop-motion animation as well as modern processes like 3D printing, laser cutting, and digital image scanning . Campers will use both traditional (stop-motion) and new digital techniques to create their own animated story using all of the resources here at JC Fab Lab. The kids will use 3D printing, laser cutting & engraving, and other basic familiar tools & materials (cardboard, acrylic paint, and more). Kids will start with story and character development, move into storyboarding. Then the big fun of creating scale model sets and, of course, their characters and other moving elements. This is a great opportunity for kids to open up their imaginations and create something amazing. There will be outdoor time during this camp — both free and organized play. Note**This camp is a 2 Week session, and there’s no camp on Tues, July 4th**.

JC Fab Kids Design Camp
June 26-July 7 (Full day 9:00AM-3:00PM)
Campers will learn how to be designers — not just of graphics, but of things they can hold in their hands! This is a kids version of what young designers learn at Pratt, RISD, and other fine design programs. We will take the campers through concept, sketching, mechanical drawing, form factor, specification and prototyping. If you really want to see what your young designer can create from their limitless imagination, this is the camp session that will bring it. Campers may use a variety of processes at the Lab including 3D printing, laser cutting/engraving, CNC milling, wood working, mold making and more. Note**This camp is a 2 Week session, and there’s no camp on Tues, July 4th**.

2nd Session | July 10-July 14
Textiles, Wearables & Accessories Camp
July 10 -Jul 14 (Full day 9:00AM-3:00PM)
Campers will create their own mini-product line based on their own interests and exploration of clothing and accessories. We’re expecting great things to come from the amazing open minds of the campers for this 1 week experience of a lifetime. We’ll bring in guest presenters from the New York and LA design and fashion world — kids will hear real-world voices on the cutting edge of design and will get feedback & assistance from them so they can “make it work”. Campers will learn the sketch-to-design sample process that real-world designers use. They’ll get primers on screen printing, laser-cutting and engraving for leather & fabrics. Advanced campers (or those who have a penchant for technology) will have the opportunity to integrate electronics to activate their clothing & accessories with functionality — simple light-up circuits, proximity detection, and garments & accessories that “talk and signal” to each other (woah… very cool, right?).
